Ms. Criss Dunkerson

5th Grade Teacher

Hi!  My name is Criss Dunkerson.  I was born and raised in Butte, MT.  I was working as an accounting technician when I was encouraged to go for my dream.  I graduated from The University of Montana – Western the spring 2000 with a BA in Elementary Education.

I moved to Philipsburg in August 2000 when I became the 6th grade teacher.   I had been teaching 6th grade for two years when an opportunity arose for me to continue my education and earn an endorsement in special education.  My principal recommended me for the OPI Special Education Project.  This project enables teachers in rural communities to work towards earning their endorsement while teaching special education.   With this opportunity, I started teaching special education in the High School for grades 7-12, this is my 6th year!  I also decided to pursue my Master’s degree.  I earned my master’s in Curriculum and Instruction the summer of 2005. I look forward to continuing to teach, learn with and inspire the students at GHS.

I live in Philipsburg and have three boys, Edd (20), Eric (18), and Shane (13).  We love the area because of the many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors!

I can be reached at the school, 859-3232 #228, or by e-mail, dunkersonc@pburg.k12.mt.us
