Mr. Ron Estes

Ron Joseph Estes was born and raised in Anaconda, Montana. He graduated from Anaconda High School. He furthered his education at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho where he played baseball. He finished his college career at Boise, Idaho. He was and outstanding pitcher and both the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies drafted him as a pitcher.

Nonetheless, he decided not to go the big league because he wanted to live closer to his parents, so he embarked on a teaching career instead.

He began his teaching career in Harrison, Montana in 1980. Besides his teaching duties, he coached girls' and boys' basketball; girls' and boys' cross-country track and junior high track. He left Harrison in 1984 and began his teaching tenure at Granite High School.

Ron first taught elementary science and junior high history in the Philipsburg School District. He was the head coach for the outstanding Lady Prospectors for eight years and the head coach for the Prospectors for seven years. He ended his coaching career in Philipsburg with a winning record in both sports. He also effectively coached track for Granite High School for 15 years.

Mr. Estes has been the guidance counselor for the past 18 years since replacing Harvey Carter. Besides his counseling, he teaches U.S. History and JMG (Jobs for Montana Graduates).

Ron has four children Brad, Michael, Rochi, and Mia. Brad is a mining engineer, married to Danyell, has one son Joseph, and they are expecting another addition (baby boy) soon. They reside in Seattle, Washington. Michael graduated with a degree in nursing in West Virginia. He currently resides in Bel Aire, Ohio and is studying to become a nurse practitioner. Rochi is currently attending Dickenson in North Dakota and is studying medicine and is playing basketball, too. Mia is currently a freshman at Anaconda High School.

Mr. Estes enjoys watching his kids participate in all their various activities and he also enjoys fishing and hunting with them. He enjoys swapping hunting and fishing tales with the students and staff at Granite High School. Mr. Estes truly relishes working with students of all ages.
