School Philosophy

The Board of Trustees of Philipsburg School District #1 believe the following to be true:
bulletThe main function of Philipsburg School District #1 is to create a positive climate for learning.
bulletIt is our duty to provide a comprehensive educational program which will facilitate and promote an atmosphere conducive to the total growth and development of each student. We must provide positive learning services that will allow each student to develop so that she/he may exercise self direction and self control.
bulletThis educational system will focus on student growth. It will provide each student with a wide variety of positive school experiences. These experiences will include academic and co-curricular activities which will help students understand themselves, their world, and their relationship to it, including their responsibilities and rights as citizens in a democratic, capitalistic society.
bulletEducation is a lifelong process of growth and development during which each student should acquire knowledge, interest, positive ideals and habits so that she/he may find and succeed in her or his place in our society.
bulletIn recognition of the rapid changes in technology in our society, we request continuous advice and support from the citizens of our community, state, and nation, as we endeavor to develop students the attitudes and abilities demanded in this age.
bulletIn the school setting, the teacher has the most immediate effect on learner outcomes, and therefore we will make every effort to employ and support a teaching staff dedicated to the principles stated here in.
bulletEqual educational opportunity is the right of all learners without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, or handicapping condition, and all laws to this end should be followed promptly and effectively.
